i have a monkey who turned four july third of this year she has never attacked anyone and has a wonderful personality i strongly believe that it is all on how they are raised as with any animal i believe that the younger they are the better the bonding

You don't mention what type of monkey you have. It may not be a mature monkey yet, or may not have felt the need or had reason to challenge you or anyone else as of yet. You also don't mention if it is intact or is a male or female. Regardless of HOW you raise your monkey, they are ALL wild animals, and therefore have the potential to bite and/or attack, which you need to remain prepared to handle should it happen in the future. Basically ALL monkeys bite at one time or another....be it over dominance issues, jealousy incidents, stress realated, fear bites, taking something away from them, simply pms'ing... WHATEVER......but you can bet you're monkey will not go it's lifetime without a bite incident.

Monkeys are wild animals, the word "tame" should never be used, it should be "trained"
If a Monkey is properly trined, biting will never be a problem at any age.The problem is people treat them as little infants when they are young, and forgot how big and powerfull they get as adults.
I own two Macaques and have never been bit, I will not allow it, its not an option.And one is over 4 years old.

My female Capuchin is 7 years old. She has bitten plenty of people but never me. I have only had her 2 years. My friend raised her, but at the age of 5 she challenged my friend and bit her twice, Jazzie took up with me and I took her home with me which she will stay. but she still bites certain people and you need to always be prepared. Don't get me wrong they can be very loving, but at the same time they can be as mean as they are loving. Just don't ever give up on them.

my i need a lot of imformation about monkey lovers, i need imformation what kind of food monkeys eat? what kind of relationships they have? and what kind of things they do?

I have an 11 month old Java Macaque. I stay at home with him all day, so we are really close and he thinks I'm his mom. We've had him since he was 4 weeks old. Lately he has started challenging me when I put him in his cage or put a diaper on him,he will bite me viciously, but he has not drawn blood yet. I love him like a child, but he is starting to scare me. I use to be able to yell at him or spank him and he would cry and want to cuddle up with me, now he just retaliates like I'm not going to tell him to do anything. It's just when I do those 2 things, otherwise he cuddles and grooms me all the time. Any advise.

what is wrong with the monkey that is making people get rid of them around the age of 4years? A monkey for a pet is just like a cat or dog, you can get very attatched to them the longer you have it.I worked at a drive through safari and my job was to take care of the monkey's and there was a two year old cappuchin that was hand trained and I got to take him home at night and what little bit of time I got to spend with him, I got very attatched to him, and when I left the job, I have been missing him very much, and now I am trying to find a baby cappuchin for my self to have as mine, to raise. I never emagined how my life would change having one around all the time, and now that I don't have him around, my life is lonely. He brought joy and happiness to the household. He was just like my baby, couldn't go anywhere without him being on my shoulder all the time.

i don't know if this is true or not. i was blessed with a cappuchin
named skippy he was 24 years old when me and my room got him. his mom past a way and the familey was scared of him, so he was given to me in the hope that i would love him till the end of his life. he died on 04/15/2001 at the age of 39 years old. my world came to a end.
he was like a son to me. we did have our ups and downs like the time he bit me and i had to stay three days in the hospital.every body told me to get rid of him, but they did not understand the love we had for each other.when i would come home from work he would be so happy to see me. we would watch tv together. but when he had one of his senior moments he would go to his room to watch tv and some times slam the door be hind him. it was ironic when he died his tv did too. i miss my skippy. so if you don't keep your monkey past the age of 4 there is so much you are missing. if you can't keep your old monkey i would love too. thanks for the thereapy it is that month robert
