Hello:

I have a 2 yr. vervet male as well...sounds familiar. I think if you read some of the other comments on other similiar questions it will be helpful...Nonetheless, we had Chango's Canines removed (his babies)because of biting. Now his adult canines are coming in and we will have them removed....even without them, he could still do some damage.

Chango is very hyper and I am constantly being challenged as alpha! I am planning on having him neutered....I have read too many times where that helps...so it's worth a try...I have to maintain domonense with him! If I am consistent and do this sometimes pinning him down until he is submissive to me, then we do really well....but then he constantly tests! Be consistent! Just like with kids....Also, I know with Chango the direct eye contact was something we had to work on....he saw it as a challenge....Again don't let him get away with it! Also, watch his diet...I know they are not suppose to have Carbs... bread, granola bars things that have sugar or break down into sugar....but he does get it occassionally and I def. notice a differece in his behavior....more hyper when not following his diet.
Lot's of variety with his toys....I find that if I do a lot of things where Chango can forage it keeps him entertained as well, like wrapping his favorite goodies inside a toliet paper roll and having him open it! or a long plastic bottle with a small opening and he has to shake it just right to get the goodies out....or milk carton with holes in different places just big enought to get his hands in for goodies...Chango always likes a blanket for comfort too....

Hope this helps...If you come up with things that work I'd love to hear. Good Luck.

adult monkies bite if you were not pepared for that then you should not have one. as for the other comment if you castrate the monkey it may help, but why if you truely love monkies would you want to alter a reproductive male. two years old is not adult wait untill there 7 or 8. i have four macaques and one of them bites and showing dominance help until he was full grown. monkies don't forgett so if you need to show dominance it will continue to get worse. good luck to both of you. i hope that i am wrong
